About Kindfulness Collective

The inspiration for the name Kindfulness Collective came from the book Kindfulness by Ajahn Brahm. He discusses how mindfulness is only one aspect of the process. Mindfulness brings just the act of awareness but with kindness we are able to open our hearts and respond to ourselves and others with more love & compassion.

Kindfulness Kids was founded by Nicole O'Connell in 2018 when she became a certified children's yoga and mindfulness teacher. Kindfulness Kids began as a way to bring yoga, mindfulness, and social-emotional learning into classrooms and afterschool programs through the lens of understanding child development, cultural responsiveness, and trauma-informed teaching strategies.

Then the pandemic happened. And as schools reopened, many focused on the social-emotional wellbeing and mental health of students, but Nicole was also concerned about the social-emotional wellbeing of educators. A key factor of implementing mindfulness and social-emotional learning with children is ensuring adults are good role models,  and that only happens when they cultivate their own personal practice... And with that- Kindfulness Kids grew into the Kindfulness Collective.
